Glacial acetic acid is the pure compound (99.8 % min.), as distinguished from the usual water solutions known as acetic acid. Glacial acetic acid has a melting point of 16.6 °C. Acetic acid is used in blue green patinas & some purple patinas, production of plastics, pharmaceuticals, dyes, photographic chemicals and textile printing.
